At Encore Caregivers, we are dedicated to providing those in need with the care and assistance they require to get the most out of life.
From light housekeeping that ensures a clean, sanitary and organized space to companionship to personal care – ensuring the help seniors need with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, etc, we are here to help your loved one in any way we can. Our skilled and experienced caregivers are in seniors’ homes, condos, apartments, hotel rooms, independent and assisted living facilities, memory care units and hospitals each and every day, caring for our neighbors.
Dementia Care, in general, and Alzheimer’s Care in particular are two areas in which Encore Caregivers shines. Our nurse is trained by the Alzheimer’s Association and the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners and makes sure that each and every caregiver on staff is fully trained and tested in basic dementia care before they even leave the Encore Caregivers’ new employee orientation. When speaking to a client with Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia of any kind, do you sit? Do you stand? Do you look the client in the eye? Do you increase your volume? Do you touch the client? How do your re-direct behavior and quiet fears? All of this (and so much more) is addressed. Good, solid caregiving for a client with Alzheimer’s Disease is both a science as well as an art. We’ve got both down to a tee. Call us for Alzheimer’s care in Houston at (713) 686-2233 to speak with a care coordinator today.
Not all of our clients need it, but when they do, each one of our caregivers is trained and skilled and ready to offer help with what the state of Texas Department of Health and Human Services calls ADLs (activities of daily living). We call it personal care. It is a broad category and can be everything from walking, eating, drinking, bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and much, much more. We are helping Houston’s seniors accomplish these basic tasks each and every day, building their confidence and raising their quality of life. When you are looking for personalized in-home senior personal care, call Encore Caregivers at (713) 686-2233.
The Alzheimer’s Association and leading physicians agree that socialization is a key factor in staving off cognitive decline. And, that’s where Encore Caregivers comes in – reminiscing, engaging in conversation and social interacting, helping with hobbies (because the senior can’t do them alone anymore or because the senior doesn’t want to do them alone), driving the senior to doctor’s appointments, pharmacies, grocery stores, etc. One of our favorite clients said, “Let’s go to the Hill Country and look at the flowers.” We do that and so much more.
The state of Texas Department of Health and Human Services allows our caregivers to do 20% of their work as light housekeeping. Basically, we keep clean, sanitary and organized the areas where the senior predominantly lives: living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Can we change sheets? Yes. Can we do laundry? Yes. Can we vacuum, prepare light meals and snacks? Yes and yes. Can we dust and feed the cat? Yes and yes. Could we pressure wash the garage? That would be a no. Could we pick up after the grandkids? No, sorry. We are taking care of your senior family member with tender, loving care – our focus stays where it should be — on the senior.
Looking for senior patient transportation to and from a medical procedure? Houston, as you know, is home to one of the largest medical centers in the world. When a patient flies in for a procedure, often it’s us who meets them at the airport. Who takes them to the hotel? Us, again. Who takes them to the procedure, back to the hotel, and eventually back to the airport? You guessed it. It’s us. But on the home front, lots of Houston seniors need assistance in getting to a procedure or are required by the hospital to have someone check them in or check them out post-procedure. That’s where we come in again. We laugh and say that Encore Caregivers must be on the medical community’s speed dial for procedure transportation – maybe because we are reliable and dependable and trusted. That’s our best guess.
